The GAC Group’s AION Thainland Digitalized Plant is situated in the Amad Rayong Industrial Park, Rayong Province, serving as its first overseas production base. The total investment for the project is 2.3 billion Thai baht, divided into two phases based on the principle of "small investment, rapid output, and rolling development." The plant has an annual production capacity of 50,000 units. The first phase of the project was completed and commenced operations in July of 2024, with the first model being the right-hand drive version of the AION Y Plus.

The plant is a crucial component of GAC's global strategy, with Thailand at its core, radiating influence across ASEAN. Through the construction and operation of the plant, GAC aims to cultivate international talent, enhance its overseas production and marketing systems, boost the brand's international presence, and achieve a production and sales target of one million units by 2025. On July 17th of this year, the smart factory in Thailand was completed, and the second-generation AION V rolled off the production line globally, marking a significant milestone in its overseas expansion and signaling steady progress in the localization process. Future plans include introducing more localized models to further penetrate the local market.
