Medical informatization is a major development trend. With the strong support of national policies, more and more hospitals in China are accelerating the implementation of their overall construction of intelligence, informationization (digitalization) and modernization, so as to improve the medical service level and core competitiveness of hospitals.
Formerly known as the church hospital established by the American Presbyterian Association in 1886, the 100-years-old Baoding City’s No.1 Central Hospital is a third-class general hospital in Hubei Province, China. The informationization construction project of the east hospital (the ambulatorium building and the ophthalmology building) is just a product of the modern informationization (digitalization) development.
With the continuous improvement of professional brand influence and reputation, and the full recognition of the public, it has become difficult for the old ambulatorium buildings to meet more people's medical needs. After the completion of these buildings, it will create a more healthy, safe, comfortable and warm medical environment for patients and medical staff to maximize the service quality; besides, the comprehensive wiring system in the new building needs to meet the growing needs of the hospital for information transmission, and the "troika" system —— "smart medical" system for medical staff, "smart service" system for patients, and "smart management" system for hospitals.
As one of the major livelihood projects of Baoding Municipal Government, the project of East Hospital of Baoding City's No.1 Central Hospital aims to build a modern and intelligent hospital with complete facilities, reasonable layout and beautiful environment featuring ophthalmology, otolaryngology, department, gynecology, obstetrics and pediatrics. The total construction area of the project is 66,800 square meters, including the ambulatorium buildings, medical technology, ward, operating room, underground parking lot and the equipment room, etc. The whole project adopted Zhaolong’s S series Class E low smoke halogen-free cabling system product scheme, including the 300 KM of CAT 6 data cables and about 6000 information points.

The medical building system is densely populated, which requires sufficient flame retardant performance to ensure the safety of life and property; the medical building system has a lot of equipment, large data flow and different requirements; it needs to fully consider that the wiring system can support high-speed transmission applications to meet the different network application requirements of the medical system. Based on the above factors, Zhaolong recommended the S series Class E cabling system product scheme for the project.
Safety: The medical building system is full of personnel and equipment, which needs to pay special attention to the safety of human lives and properties. The copper cable in the Zhaolong’s S series Class E solution adopts the LSZH sheath, and the flame retardant, smoke density and halogen release all meet the test requirements of the IEC standards. When the cable is burned in the event of fire, Zhaolong’s wiring solution can effectively reduce the concentration of soot and reduce the emission of toxic gas, so as to ensure the safety of lives and properties in the ophthalmology building and the ambulatorium building of the hospital.
High Speed: In the medical building system, there are many devices requiring large data flow, which needs to meet the high speed and reliability requirements of data transmission. Zhaolong’s S series Class E cabling system has been widely used and recognized in many projects, with its performance meeting and exceeding the international and national standards, e.g. supporting stable and reliable 1 Gb / s transmission performance, supporting 2.5 GBASE-T and 5 GBASE-T, and supporting PoE + + applications at the same time.
Practicability: Zhaolong’s S series Class E cabling system, through the modular wiring structure design, can optimize the equipment and horizontal wiring laying and management, and it can reserve space for the subsequent upgrade of the cabling syetem for the hospital and reduce the operation and maintenance cost of the hospital in the later period in the future, with high practicability and economic property.
It is reported that at present, the information construction of Baoding City’s No.1 Central Hospital has realized the interconnection of unified data and standards among its "three sub-hospitals". Ambulatorium buildings' "one-card" treatment, mobile payment, hospital navigation, inpatient self-service payment and other information systems have brought lots of convenience for patients. The informationization construction with electronic medical records as the core has reached the National Fourth-level Informationized one in China.
